The Hinesville Housing Authority Board of Commissioners authorized a monetary donation to local charities to help provide relief for families in need. The donation was split between the Diversity Health Center and the United Way of the Coastal Empire-Liberty County.

“Due to the unchartered unknown territory of COVID-19, the HHA Board of Commissioners and I felt the need to demonstrate our commitment and support as community stakeholders to make monetary donations to the Diversity Wellness Center and United Way because of the variety of services both organizations provide to the entire Liberty County community,” said Melanie C. Thompson, CEO of the Hinesville Housing Authority. “We consider it a privilege to display a willingness to render aid in responding to our community’s need as we all continue to remain safe during this pandemic.”

Strengthening community partnerships is part of the Hinesville Housing Authority’s commitment to improving the quality of life for everyone in Liberty County. These donations will provide medical and financial assistance through services offered by the Diversity Health Center and United Way of the Coastal Empire-Liberty County. The two organizations were selected because a majority of the housing authority residents qualify and use the services provided by the partnering organizations.

Diversity Health Center’s primary mission is to provide primary, preventative and mental healthcare services to the residents of Liberty and Long counties, with a particular focus on the uninsured and underserved residents. They currently offer telehealth and telepsych visits as well as COVID testing. For more information, visit www.diversityhc.org or call 912-877-2227.

The donation to United Way of the Coastal Empire will provide Liberty County residents access to basic emergency relief, food distribution, transportation assistance and financial help. For more information, call (912) 368-4282.
