The Hinesville Housing Authority was created by the City of Hinesville under the laws of the United States and Georgia in 1959.
The Housing Authority remains strong and committed towards improving the quality of life for our community. We completed our first Strategic Plan in 2013 and one of the areas that was crucial is our Housing Inventory. We are raising the quality of our apartments as close to market standard as possible within the next few years. We also recognize the imbalance between available affordable housing and demand for housing in our community. In efforts to address this issue, we plan to expand our portfolio of single family and multifamily units in the future for possible home ownership.
We continue to maintain zero vacancies for both of our Public Housing and Section 8 programs. We continue to keep Public Housing Assessment scores (PHAS) to High Performer.
There were two (2) Non-Profits started in 2012 under the name of Hineshouse Project to provide more services to the community and Hineshouse Development to build more affordable housing.
