Housing authority donates $1,500 for health care services - Hinesville Housing Authority - Hinesville, GA

(August 7, 2019 – Hinesville, GA) The Hinesville Housing Authority recently presented a $1,500 monetary donation to the United Way of the Coastal Empire-Liberty County on behalf of Quad E Wellness Center. The wellness center is a completed goal of the Hinesville Housing Authority’s strategic plan to enhance the health and well-being of its residents and the entire Liberty County community.

“The population that we serve needs preventative care advice, assistance with medication and the resources connected with wellness,” said Melanie Thompson, CEO of the Hinesville Housing Authority. “Along with housing, we support health care initiatives to bring stability and self-sufficiency to the family, focusing on the whole person so that our Liberty County community can be stronger.”

Quad E is a nonprofit dedicated to educating, engaging and empowering communities to eradicate preventable diseases. The Quad E Wellness Center, located at 301 Olive Street in Hinesville, provides free blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol screenings. The facility also assists individuals who are uninsured in addition to connecting individuals to medical insurance resources.

“This donation helps to establish the legitimacy of Quad E and it’s helpful for when we seek other funds because we can say that we have been great stewards of funds from United Way,” said Mary Ann Streeter, founder and CEO of Quad E.

Streeter is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner whose practice spans over two decades. After her second bout with breast cancer, Streeter decided to provide health services in her community. The vision of QUAD E Corporation was realized in November of 2016 and continues to grow.

The funds given to the local United Way will assist with Liberty County residents who need funding for health screenings, transportation to and from medical appointments and assistance with pharmacy costs for prescription medication when serviced by Quad E.

“For us, as United Way of the Coastal Empire, it is an additional collaborative partnership,” said Jennifer Darsey, area director for the United Way of the Coastal Empire’s Liberty County Office. “Because of our strong connection to the Hinesville Housing Authority and their already generous support through their emergency assistance funding to our office this is another piece, but that health piece is so important in our community because there is a population of folks that aren’t being served necessarily for health care so this is another connector to connect people to excellent services like what Quad E is offering.”
